Posters
Posters are synonomous with rock shows. If you're a live band, putting posters up announcing your upcoming show (or having your street team help post them) is an inexpensive adverisment. Of course, for the best bang for your buck, leave space on the poster where you can hand-write items. Don't print up a poster run for a single show - you can't reuse them.
