Social playlist sites usually share what everyone is listening to with one another. These type of sites enable people to discover music based on what other people with similar tastes are listening to. For an indie musician this is extremely powerful since if you maintain a presence at these sites, you are likely to get discovered by those people who are already predisposed to like your type of music. In many ways, these are some of the best ways to discover new music (what radio used to do).
