Directions

1. Create logos or make art and graphics for your merchandise.

Click here if you want to learn how to make logos for your band. Or use our Art & Graphics category for resources.

2. Clear your album art for commercial use to avoid legal troubles.

If you don't own your art, make sure that all payments and royalties are handled for the artwork, if necessary.

3. Pick a store that offers on demand services.

Sites like Cafepress, Spreadshirt, and Zazzle allow for on demand merchandise. They also have a wide range of products like shirts, mugs, hats, and lots more. Check out our Other Merch category for more merch manufacturers with on demand options

4. Use the preferred formats and templates for the art and text.

You need to use each services' specific template to make sure the merchandise will come out looking just right. Use the highest quality and largest sized images you have. Remember that unless you buy a copy of the merch, you will not be able to see the merch in person before it is sent to customers, so take care. If the site has a size limit for images, submit the largest image possible.

5. Promote all of your merchandise on your website with links and banners.

Add banners and links to your website and social networking pages in order to promote everything you have for fans.

6. Choose the best selling items to have for sale at your merch table.

Periodically check out your online sales; see what items are doing very well. The most popular items you should think about making in bulk (which will make you more money) and sell in person.
