Directions
1. At a show, use the "Giveaway" method to get people's email addresses
Find out how to do that here. If you have friends who want to do this, you are set! But sometimes it can be hard to find a willing salesperson. Try bribing them with CDs or shirts. If you find yourself without help, try asking members from another band to run the store while you are playing. Offer to do the same for them while they're on stage.
2. Take pictures of your fans at the show, and hand out cards with your website telling them they can see pictures of themselves.
Either you, friends, or helpers should take pictures of the crowd, and hand out cards so that they know that they can find themselves. An example of a band that does this well is The Locals who have a mascot, Danger Boy, a doll they hand to people, and take their picture. They have a link on the front page of their site which says "Did you have your pic taken with Danger Boy?" It keeps their fans coming back to the site, where they can even show their friends.
3. Email reminders
When the pictures are up, send out an email reminder to everyone who gave you an email address during the show.
