Directions

1. Decide whether you will host your own blog or use a blog hosting service.

If you already have your own website, many hosting services have blog software. Separately, if you want to use a blog hosting service there are a few really good ones. We recommend these:

2. Make sure your web host offers the necessary features.

When making your own blog through your website make sure that it has these must-have features:

  • A rich text editor
  • Embedded HTML
  • A sound player
  • RSS-enabled

3. Add your blog to blog search sites so fans can find you.

If you want fans to find you blog in search results, you need to add it to blog search engines. Click here to learn how to add your blog to search engines.

4. Write entries that are personal and interesting.

Your blog should entertain your readers and draw them into your projects. They will start to feel like a part of what you are doing. A good band blog will share behind the scenes events and offer an insight into the personalities of each band member.

5. Update your blog regularly.

If you do not update your blog with new entries regularly, people will stop reading it regularly. You don't have to wait for a big event to happen in order to post an entry, you can write about anything that you think fans would find interesting.

6. Read and respond to your blog comments

Answer the fans that leave comments or ask questions. People want to interact with the bands that they love.
