Directions

1. Create a free Google or Yahoo account if you do not already have one.

If you don't already have a free email account, make one. It is a very quick process.

2. Create and name your group.

If you are using Google, head to Google Groups to begin creating the group. Come up with a title for your group as well as a group email address.

If you are using Yahoo!, head to Yahoo! Groups to create your group. You will then categorize your group, name it, and create a group email address.

3. Make the group private.

For your Google Group, you will check the box labeled Restricted when creating the group. This will make it so the only people allowed in the group are those you personally invite.

For your Yahoo! Group, you wll click the Customize link and check off your group unlisted. Also select the option that closes the membership so that only people you approve can join.

4. Add all of your band members to the group.

Invite all of your bandmates by entering their email addresses. For the Yahoo! group, the invitation section is at the end of the Customization options.

5. Send out a test message to confirm that everyone receives the messages.

When everyone has accepted the invitation and joined the group, send out a test message to confirm that everything is working. Ask your bandmates to respond in some way to your message so that you know everyone is getting the information.
