2. Choose a web host and site hosting plan.

Your site needs to be hosted in order for people to view it. There are many companies that offer site hoating services. Check out our list of web hosts to start looking for an appropriate host for you. Also, check with members of your network to see if anyone you know has their own server and will host you for free. Also, be aware that if you find sites with free hosting they will usually put lots of ads on your pages, which might be distracting for viewers.

3. Find a web design and management site if you need one.

Design and management tools should allow you the flexibility to be creative in expression, while allowing you to manage and update the site easily. If you need assistance in building your website, check out our listing of web design and management companies.

4. Decide what information and media you want to display on your site.

Choose the information and media you wish to display on the band web page. Band websites usually have photographs and live show performance pictures. You might want to add video clips and songs that viewers can stream or download.

5. Divide your media and information into categories.

These categories will become sections or pages on your website. Band and music websites commonly have a bio, upcoming events section, merch information, a blog, and contact information.

6. Limit the amount of information on the main page to the basic essentials.

Use a site editor to organize all of your information into a web page. Keeping it to the essentials will make it easier and faster for viewers to find the information that they want.

7. Upload your website pages.

Use the upload module provided by your hosting company to upload your website pages. Be sure to test out opening the pages and test them again on a different computer to make sure all the files work.

8. Maintain your pages and update them regularly.

It is important to keep all of the information on your site current, particularly dates and details for live shows. Your fans will want to see complete information and frequent updates.
