Audacity is a free, open source audio recorder and editor. If you don't have multi-tracking or recording capabilities, downloading this program will get you well on your way to making music.
Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. You can use this software to record your music and edit it.
With this program you can copy, cut, and splice sounds together and change the speeds and pitches of recordings. Add extra effects like echo and phaser sounds while removing hisses and other background disturbances. You can work with the following formats: Ogg, MP3, WAV or AIFF files. Up to 16 channels can be recorded at once at up to 96 kHz. There are also a bunch of plug-ins that can be used with this software. Since this software is open source, people are constantly updating and adding to the features.
