Last.fm have a social playlist streaming player, a playlist collector, and a web presence for musicians that actually pays money for plays. One of the better established sites in this arena, it's well worth your time to check it out.
It works by installing an applicaiton on people's desktops, and even within iTunes. It will learn your tastes in music, and use the information from that, and other listeners, to generate lists like: People who liked X will like Y.
You can use this site to actually find out who listened to you, and when. If you have your music up on CDBaby, it will also be included in their libraries, which you can elect to share.
